May 2010 is shaping up to be a great month for the PS3.  Several anticipated games are on the verge of being released, and many of them are very likely to become blockbuster hits.  Here are the most anticipated games coming out for the PS3 in May..

-Red Dead Redemption:  The sequel to Rockstar's western game on last generation consoles.  Red Dead is a third person shooter in an open world environment.  Go anywhere in the vast desert on horseback, by train, or on foot as you search for your former gun totting comrades.  Brutal gunplay, crisp graphics, Honor and Infamy System, and competitive online play are sure to keep players engaged for quite some time.

-3D Dot Game Heroes:  Remember the old Zelda titles?  3D Dot Games Heroes aims to replicate them as closely as possible, and from looking at previews they are doing an amazing job.  The game plays just like Zelda, requiring you to clear out dungeons, gain new items, defeat massive bosses, and solve unique puzzles.  The game also offers an interesting graphic style that is best described as 2D gone 3D.  Everything in the game is crafted by 3D pixels, and gives the game a distinct vibe. 

-Lost Planet 2:  Capcom currently has a multiplayer demo out for this game on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PSN Store.  Lost Planet 2 is a 3rd person shooter with an emphasis on gigantic monsters, grappling hook use, and coop play.  The campaign is broken up into sections where the player controls different pirate factions and can customize them as they progress. 

-Skate 3: Taking place in Port Carverton, Skate 3 looks to ramp up everything people loved about the first two games.  Hall of Meat is back, and introducing full body control.  Create your own Skate crew and become a skating icon. Team up with friends in a new coop game mode, or compete head to head.  Anyone who enjoyed Skate 2 should definitely pick this game up.

-ModNation Racers:  Following LittleBigPlanets formula of Play.Create.Share, ModNation Racers allows users to play pre-made courses, create their own tracks, and share them with everyone else on the internet.  The game is extremely customizable: from creating a track, to editing your racer's appearance or tricking out your car, almost anything is possible.
